Statement of Intent

As part of the national 2014/15 contractual changes, all practices are required to offer and promote the facility for patients (who wish to):

  • book, view, amend, cancel and print appointments online;
  • order online, view and print a list of their repeat prescriptions or medicines and appliances;
  • view online, export or print any summary information from their records relating to medications allergies, adverse reactions and any other items agreed between the contractors and patient (as soon as possible after 1 April 2014)

In addition to this practices should ensure they are (as soon as possible after 1 April 2014)

  • utilising the GP2GP facility for transfer of all patient records between practices (when a patient registers or de-registers – excludes temporary residents)
  • uploading information to the Summary Care Record (SCR) on a daily basis (unless the patient has opted out)

Where these arrangements are not currently in place, practices are required to publicise a statement of intent. This statement should outline the practice plans to achieve these elements by no later than 31 March 2015 (this may include phased introduction during the year for some of them). The plans should be publicised in the premises and on the practice website.
